welcome to Pole SPORT

When it comes to taking your first Pole Sport / Pole Fitness class, it can be quite a daunting prospect, which is why we aim to provide you as much information and assistance as possible in the sections below.

If there is anything you can't find or need further information on, please do not hesitate to contact us by email, Messenger, or text. We'll be happy to help.

What to wear

Generally, for all Pole Fitness classes:

  • Please wear something that you feel comfortable in, that does not restrict movement. Pole or yoga shorts are recommended.

  • We only train in bare feet.

  • Please bring a towel for personal use.

  • A bottle for water. We have a filter/cooler.

For flexibility classes, it’s a good idea to bring some warm training clothes, as you will get the most out of the class if your body is kept warm throughout the class, even when you are lying still in some of the stretches.

For 'Pole Fit' classes, please bring what you would normally wear to pole, as well as suitable training shoes.

Please do not wear jewelry during the class. Rings, bracelets and necklaces cause irreparable damage to the poles.

Do not apply oils or lotions to the skin prior to your class. They will make you slip off the pole.

I'm not strong or flexible, where do I start?

Very few people are already strong or flexible when they start, as this is something you will achieve in time and through practice.

Our beginner class (Pole Level 1), is designed to build the fundamental strength from scratch, so everyone can take part.

We have no expectations as to your current fitness level, strength or flexibility.

It is a general misconception that you have to be extremely strong or flexible to start training in Pole, which definitely isn’t true.

There is no finish line, so there is no such thing as 'too strong' or 'too flexible' or 'too fit' - we are all a work-in-progress.

If you want to build strength and flexibility, and feel you are behind in these areas, then our Pole Level 1, Pole Sport Class and Flexibility classes would be ideal for you.

Parking

Being 350m from Britomart, we would encourage the use of public transport wherever possible. However, if you are driving, there are options...

There is free street parking available after 5pm, but it is scarce. We've found there are always parks available on our block; Anzac St, Short Street, Eden Crescent, Parliament St, back onto Anzac St.

Another option for streetside parking is to park on Beach Road and take the staircase up to Anzac Avenue (handy warm up).

Secure Parking NZ is offering $3 parking spots on weeknights (from 5pm) and weekends at The Chancery Car Park on 8 Bacons Lane. Please visit:  https://www.heartofthecity.co.nz/article/three-dollar-parking-central-city

There is a large Pay & Display car park immediately next door. This is very convenient, but it is the most expensive option.

If you are after a cheaper option, the Auckland Council car park on Victoria St East is very reasonable at night.

Showers

There is a toilet and changing room in the studio, however there is no shower facility.

Cancel BOOKING

Our cancellation policy is very simple and we believe, very fair. If you need to, you can cancel your booking with no charge or loss of class credit (with reasonable notice).

This policy allows other students to take that spot in the class.

If you need to cancel a class or personal training session for any reason, we understand, but require at least 4-hours notice. More info HERE

To cancel, please open the MINDBODY app and cancel your booking online.

You can also call or message us and we will look after it for you.

If you fail to cancel in this time or notify us, we will apply a Late Cancel penalty of $10 to your account. So please, do let us know :)

Waitlist

The Waitlist means the class is already at full capacity and you have been added to the waitlist and if any clients cancel, you will be moved up into class.

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will be added to class. However, if you are added you will receive an automated email confirming you are now booked into class – as long as you have checked ‘subscribe to email reminders & notifications’ in your profile. The studio will also do their best to personally contact you.
